Do NOT visit Capitol Reef National Park without getting a pie!

Spoiler: it was worth it!

Capitol Reef is Utah’s least visited National Park but it is iconic for something you wouldn’t expect! Pie!

The historic Gifford Homestead is a step back in time to when Mormon pioneers settled Fruita in the late 1800s. The fruit pies are made fresh daily, a lot of them using fruit grown right in the park’s orchards! During harvest season you can even pick fruit to take home with you🍎🍒

Pie flavors rotate seasonally, but apple, cherry, peach, strawberry rhubarb, and mixed berry are some of the most popular. They do sell out though, especially in the afternoon, so getting there earlier in the day is your best bet if pie is on your must-do list!

While you’re there, don’t miss driving the scenic Capitol Reef route, hiking to Hickman Bridge or Cassidy Arch, wandering Grand Wash, or admiring the many scenic overlooks.

Need to know:
🥧 Pies and cinnamon rolls available daily but may sell out
🍑 Orchard fruit picking is seasonal
🚗 Scenic Drive has a fee beyond the park entrance
☀️ Summers get HOT — start hikes early
🐶 Most trails are not dog friendly inside the national park

Would you drive hours in the desert of Utah just for the pie??
