Concerning Hobbits / Evenstar (harp cover)

Concerning Hobbits/Evenstar by Howard Shore, arr. Karen Haigh/Maya Finklestein
“Concerning Hobbits” is a piece of music heavily influenced by Celtic music styles, originally written for the 2001 film The Fellowship of the Ring, the first part of the Lord of the Rings. It is meant to evoke happiness and peace and is often associated with a rural setting. The original uses a fiddle, tin whistle, and a bodhrán drum, three instruments that are often used in Celtic music. “Evenstar” is a serene and slow piece, written as a love song from the elven character Arwen to the human Aragorn. The Evenstar, as the jewel, is a gift given by Arwen to Aragorn in the film. The music evokes pain as well, for Arwen must give up her family and immortality to be with Aragorn.
