Baby It's Cold Outside, 78 RMP recording, 1949 Montana, Alyce and Jim Howe

I don’t think that most people think of Lady Gaga when they think of their mother. However, I started doing just that when I recently watched Lady Gaga’s recent music video ”Baby it’s cold outside” with Tony Bennett.

That occurred because my mother and her brother sang the same song years ago. Long before my mother raised five children in Forsyth Montana, she attended Forsyth high school. Her maiden name was Alyce Howe, and she was raised with her brother Jim Howe. While in high school, their father purchased a newfangled device called a phonograph so he could make 78 RPM audio recordings. Quite an innovation and novelty for 1949 Forsyth Montana. With this device, he made home recordings of his son and daughter Alyce Howe and Jim Howe.
One of the home 78 RPM audio recordings they produced in 1949 was a duet they performed to the score of ”Baby it’s cold outside.” Of course, I am partial to my mothers and uncles rendition, but you can draw your own conclusions. There is some loss of quality, in the audio conversion.
We made a recording of the 78 RPM record and converted to a digital file and then overlaid a visual video of photographs of my mother’s high school picture along with her brother and a winter scene of Forsyth.
