How to Import AutoCAD Plant 3D Files into Revit | Convert Plant 3D Geometry to Solids

In this video, I show how to import AutoCAD Plant 3D files into Autodesk Revit and convert them from Plant 3D object-based geometry into clean solid geometry that works much better inside a Revit model.

Plant 3D files are not the same as standard AutoCAD files. Even though Plant 3D works on top of AutoCAD, it uses different object types and geometry, which is why direct import into Revit often gives poor results or creates models that are difficult to navigate and use.

In this tutorial, I explain:

why Plant 3D files do not import cleanly into Revit
how to export Plant 3D files into a Revit-friendly format
how to use the export wizard in Plant 3D
how to handle large numbers of files with a batch export workflow
how to load the exported DWG files into Revit
how to deal with unit conversion from imperial to metric
