What Southwest Credit Card is the Best Bang for Your Buck? #travelhacking

Hey, this is Leen from Leen on Travel. And once again, Southwest threw another bomb to their loyalists by raising their credit card annual fees an average of 50%! Fortunately for those of us who already have a card with them, these increases will not be seen until after our 2026 renewal date.
Of course, there has been a slew of changes to all the perks on the cards as well. They all needed changes because of the new seating assignments- which are out now for flights starting January 2026.
So Generally speaking, a lot of the changes helped loyalists with getting some good assigned seats- meaning the higher the card’s annual fee, the better seat assignment we get to choose.
I’ve got a longer video going into all of these cards in more detail, but for now- real quick, which card is the best bang for the buck?
The winner is- the mid-tiered Premier cards. Both the Premier personal and business cards have an annual fee of $149. With both, you get 6,000 anniversary points worth $90, bringing your annual fee down to like $59, and allows you to pick a Preferred seat within 48 hours of your flight. Though you do get to pick a free standard seat at booking. You also get a 15% off flight discount each year.

Note that while the cheapest $99 Plus card is only $99 per year, with the only-3,000 point anniversary bonus, its value is just $5 less than the Premier. With all of its other very minor perks, this card is just not worth the savings in the annual fee.
