Salsa may have its roots in Cuba, Puerto Rica and New York, but it has also played a major role in Colombian music, thanks largely to the two musicians featured here. Fruko is a percussionist, band-leader, arranger and producer who launched his country's salsa scene in the 70s with his band Fruko y sus Tesos, while Joe Arroyo became Colombia's biggest salsa star, spending nearly a decade singing in Fruko's band before going solo.
