Until a few weeks ago, Saturn was the planet with more moons, totaling 83. However, it was dethroned when 12 new moons were discovered orbiting Jupiter, making Jupiter the planet with more moons. But, Saturn is much smaller than Jupiter and still has many objects orbiting around it. What mysteries do Saturn's moons hide?
Let's find out!
Although the current count of satellites around Saturn totals 83, the reality is that this number is still open to debate. The largest satellite is Titan, the only satellite in the solar system with an atmosphere containing substances in a liquid state. There is also Enceladus, a satellite that could have an ocean of liquid water beneath its ice sheets.
How many types of satellites are there?
1. The Pastors satellites
2. Co-orbital satellites
3. Large inner moons
4. Alkyonid satellites
5. Moons of Troy
6. Large outer moons
7. Irregular Moons
8. Inuit Group
9. Gallic Group
10. Nordic Group (or Phoebe)
