How To Test For Hard Water and Install Water Softener & Filtration System GE GXSH40V

IMPORTANT! please read. In this video the intake and return lines are backwards from how they are supposed to be. I discovered this after making the video. So keep that in mind if you are using this as an installation guide.

In this video I show you how to test your water hardness level and make the necessary calculations to determine what size water softener you need. I then show you how to install a whole house dual water filtration system along with a water softener. The model used in this video is a GE GXSG40V, which can be purchased at most Home Depot stores. It is the largest model available off the shelf in store. The model number of the filters I used is GXWH20S.
I do not recommend these filters because they are prone to leaking from the air valve. As long as you do not use the air valve, they usually won't leak. Keep this in mind. This system was installed in our project house as part of the Hoarder House To Home series.
