Best way to practice Spanish: Intercambios!
Intercambios are a great tool for practicing Spanish (and English) with people who are native speakers. In La Paz, there's a weekly group from 6-8pm on Tuesdays at Casa Cultural El Huevo https://www.facebook.com/CasaCulturalElHuevo/ Anyone can join and there is no cost.
Intercambios are typically free or they could be part of a paid course. They exist in many major cities. I participated in a free one in Portland Oregon, and as part of a Spanish school in Atlanta.
In La Paz, we broke into groups of 4 (2 native speakers of each language) and answered a series of questions. It was great to hear where native Spanish speakers made mistakes in English, as those are often the places where native English speakers make mistakes in Spanish.
Not only a great place to improve your language skills, but also expand your circle of friends. And El Huevo is a great place to hang out - it's behind the gallery in an open courtyard. Check out their Facebook page from events.
