This talk will explore the lay of the political land as concerns the question of voting system reform in Canada, identifying friends of the movement as well the deeply entrenched and powerful opponents to improving Canada's democracy.

It has been over two decades since the revival of interest in voting system reform in Canada. Since then we've seen countless forums, legislative committees, advisory bodies and commissions examine the question, a number of failed referendums to introduce it, and a series of broken promises from politicians to just make the change.
