I love investing in exchanges, the picks and shovels investments of the investing world. These platforms make a lot of money with less risk than investing directly in the assets. So it’s no surprise I was really excited when Coinbase issued shares and started trading…until I started to think about it.

Coinbase collects billions in fees and subscriptions from crypto investors. It’s helping to grow the token ecosystem and will make even more money in the future. The company is just starting to grow out its subscription and services revenue. That should make Coinbase stock an easy buy.

In fact, based on trading for similar stocks like the CME Group, Coinbase shares should be worth at least 75% more and could double from here. On this year’s estimated revenue, shares of Coinbase are worth $400 each and that’s not including future potential growth.

But the problem is, investing directly in crypto instead of Coinbase stock is actually the more certain investment and the higher return.
