I Let AI Build 80% of My SaaS | Hello World Problems #2
In this episode of Hello World Problems, I share a real experiment:
I let AI build around 80% of my SaaS.
I created the initial backend structure in Django (models, serializers, views) and then deliberately stepped back and let AI expand the system. On the frontend, I used React and let Copilot handle most of the implementation — including setting up Tailwind CSS (even though I’m not a big fan of it).
I talk about:
• Feature velocity and why AI felt like a feature factory
• Whether the bug rate was actually worse
• Tailwind setup issues and debugging surprises
• Long frontend files and architectural drift
• The hidden cost: learning less than I expected
• Moving from “craftsman mode” to “creative director mode”
As a SaaS founder focused on shipping, I’m satisfied.
As a developer wanting deeper mastery, I lost something.
If you're building SaaS, learning programming, or experimenting with AI coding tools — this episode is for you.
