Adapting Educational Materials for Students with Visual Disability | AI and Inclusive Education
This conference presentation examines the adaptation of educational materials for students with visual disability, with emphasis on innovative approaches and the role of Artificial Intelligence in inclusive education.
The presentation is based on the following conference paper:
Loukisas, T., Milakis, E. D., Argyrakou, C. C., & Vangeli, D. G. (2024). Adaptation of educational materials for students with visual disability: Innovative approaches and artificial intelligence. In 10th International Conference for the Promotion of Educational Innovation.
The study focuses on accessibility in education as a central condition for the equitable participation of students with visual disability in academic activities. It discusses visual, typographic, auditory, tactile and technological adaptations that can improve access to educational content and support more inclusive learning experiences.
The presentation also examines the contribution of Artificial Intelligence applications, including personal assistants and adaptive learning systems, to the autonomy, participation and social integration of students with visual disabilities. Particular attention is given to the need for continuous improvement of educational adaptations, inclusive educational policies and ongoing professional development for educators.
The presentation contributes to current discussions on inclusive education, accessibility, educational innovation and responsible AI integration in teaching and learning.
