Leidenfrost Effect To The Max! - Dancing Water Jewels At 500 Degrees
Demonstration of the Leidenfrost effect with colored water droplets (SCIENCE!). Features a bit of homemade music that I created. The phenomenon occurs when a fluid is introduced onto a surface whose temperature is sufficiently higher than the fluid's boiling point. Upon contact, a very thin vapor layer is immediately created that suspends and protects the droplets from being evaporated into steam.
