" I didn't realize until just a couple of weeks before the nomination that there had never been an Asian-American nominated in this category. So it's really meaningful. It's meaningful for me because the Tonys are something I've aspired to and dreamed of my entire career, but it's as meaningful, if not more meaningful, for all of us because there are so many barriers yet to break down, and I'm glad I could be a small part of that."
(Reporter: "What was what was the emotional reaction when you got that news and then when you found out you'd be making history?")
"I was surprised. There are certain people who i knew we get nominated i was not one of those people i did not think i was going to get a nomination. So, when iI eard that it was the best kind of surprise."
