Restoring a 140 Year Old Village Post Office Cabinet Found in a Victorian Attic

This village post office closed in 1885. The building became a private home. And the post office cabinet—the heart of the village—was carried up to the attic and forgotten.

For 140 years, it sat in the dark. Dust covered the mahogany. The brass tarnished green. The labels faded. But the names were still there. Ainsworth, Barclay, Churchill, Dunbar. Real families who waited for letters from sons at war, from daughters who moved away, from lovers separated by distance.

Inside one drawer, we found letters. Never delivered. Never opened. Dated 1884.

This is the restoration. Every drawer saved. Every name restored in gold leaf. Every piece of brass polished. The cabinet that held a village's secrets, now telling its story.
