FEBRUARY IS BLACK HISTORY MONTH
Mr. VOZA RIVERS is a theater, film, music, and live events producer and documentary filmmaker as well as chairman and co-founder of the Harlem Arts Alliance (HAA) and executive producer & founding member, with Roger Furman, of the NEW HERITAGE THEATER GROUP (NHTG)which is New York State’s oldest Black nonprofit theater ( 1964). Voza was formerly Chief Operating Officer of Apollo Theatre Records and President of PRG Records.
February is BLACK HISTORY MONTH, in a moment in which Black History is under attack of being erased from schools, libraries and the cultural scene, our conversation today is of the utmost importance. Our guest is in fact a pioneer, a trailblazer who has dedicated his life to bringing Black creativity in the arts, theater, films and music to the foreground, at a global level, from his native HARLEM, THE MECCA OF BLACK CULTURE.
The VOZA RIVERS LEGACY SERIES, created and co-produced by legendary first black woman producer on Broadway, Lady IRENE GANDY, is intended to celebrate and honour Voza's 61 years career, his vision and legacy, that have left a profound mark on Harlem and the global arts landscape.
