You’re invited to a party like no other! Join Tony nominee Jasmine Amy Rogers as Queenie and Tony nominee Jordan Donica (Camelot) as Burrs for an unforgettable night in the dark underbelly of the city at the end of the 1920s.
Guests include starlet Kate (Tony Winner Adrienne Warren, TINA – The Tina Turner Musical), her beau Black (Jelani Alladin, Frozen), diva Delores Montoya (Tonya Pinkins, Caroline, or Change), and an assortment of New York City’s most colorful characters. The guests are a vivid collection of the unruly and the undone: Queenie's conniving rival; a cocaine-sniffing bisexual playboy; a washed-up boxer; a Black brother act; a diva of indeterminate age and infinite life experience; the fresh-off-the-farm ingénue whose naïveté quickly evaporates; a lesbian actress and her comatose girlfriend; and the bargain basement Valentino who catches Queenie's roving eye.
Michael John LaChiusa (The Gardens of Anuncia) and George C. Wolfe (Jelly’s Last Jam) bring Joseph Moncure March’s notorious narrative poem to electrifying life in their vivid, jazz-inflected musical adaptation. Nominated for seven Tony Awards in its original run, this musical directed by two-time Helen Hayes Award winner Lili-Anne Brown is full of irreverence, exuberant madness, and joyful defiance.
