In the world of traditional publishing, having a good literary agent is essential for a successful writing career. Most publishers won't consider queries or manuscripts that arrive unsolicited, or "over the transom." They look to literary agents as quality control gatekeepers. Agents understand the complicated language of book contracts and they know what the marketplace is for various kinds of books. Perhaps most importantly, literary agents know which editors are looking for which kinds of stories. In this video, I explain it all.
