Man fined £130 for painting his own zebra crossing | 11-Feb-21
A 78-year-old man has been fined £130 after he painted a DIY zebra crossing to help his disabled wife to cross the road more easily.
Laurie Phillips was investigated by police over criminal damage allegations while the council washed away his handiwork.
He told talkRADIO's Ian Collins: "They had absolutely plenty of notice...it went to about 12 of the councillors and not a single one replied. Nobody came back and said that it's illegal."
