Witcher 3 Wild Hunt: How To Make Money Early In The Game!

Welcome to another Witcher 3 video!  Lots of people comment on Reddit, Game FAQs and YouTube asking how to make money in Witcher 3.  I'm a very conservative player by nature and I don't buy anything that I don't have to, and I think that the game's economy is actually quite generous.  Here is a video to show the principles that I follow to make money early in the game.
Here are some of the tips that I cover here:
Loot everything!  If there aren't guards around, loot it!  This is how you get a lot of items for both using and selling.

Head to Novigrad before exploring Velen.  Spend an hour or so at night wandering the city when there are less guards, and loot everything you can.  You get lots of hides, alcohol, crafting items and even some silver, meteorite ore/ingots, glyphs and runes.

Collect the honeycombs as shown and sell them to herbalists.

Visit Vimme Vivaldi and take the 100 crown loan, and either pay it back much later or not at all.

Exchange any Orens and Florens with Vimme for a substantial chunk of change.

Read books and then sell them to Marcus or the merchant shown.

Sell swords to the Novigrad or Oxenfurt Blacksmiths or armour and non-sword weapons to the Novigrad or Oxenfurt armourers.

Dismantle junk into crafting items, and dismantle shells into pearls.

Sell some hides but also dismantle some info difference those of leathers. I keep 5 of each hide in my stash in case I need them for dismantling later.

Don't buy ingredients or crafting materials, or Alchemy recipes.  You'll usually pick up most of the recipes whilst exploring. The only one bought on my most recent playthrough was Enhanced Necrophage oil, and I'd found Enhanced Hanged Man's Venom and Enhanced Beast Oil already by level 7-8.

Get the Ofieri Saddlebags and saddle from Upper Mill, then you have more inventory space and can sell other saddles that you collect or win.

SELL EXCESS HIDES AND ALCHEMY INGREDIENTS.  You should have tons of Alcohest and Dwarven Spirit for meditating, so you can sell some Temerian Rye and Nilfgaardian Lemon for 12 and 15 crowns respectively.  You only need a certain amount of Alchemist Powder and Alchemy Paste for crafting, so if you keep 30ish if each you can sell excess to herbalists or the alcohol merchant on Novigrad Square.

Don't buy stuff you don't need, and don't craft stuff for the sake of it. Don't buy diagrams for random swords or armour just use the gear I recommend in my walkthrough depending on your build.

DO buy Bison grass, Ergot seeds and Green Mold as these are relatively rare.

Repairing with blacksmiths gets more expensive as your gear gets higher level. Pay for repairs early, then start using repair kits when you've collected a good supply.

If all else fails, watch my Pig Hides video and use that!
