Broadly Speaking: Quarantine Cravings
The quarantine-cooking crazes of 2020 – from sourdough starters to dalgona coffee and cloud bread – have brought new ingredients, new culinary enthusiasms, new online communities and new foul-smelling catastrophes into our lives.
Even those of us who haven't embraced the trends have been cooking at home more – out of financial necessity, boredom or pure pleasure. How has this bizarre year changed our attitudes towards cooking in the home? Has it elevated the status and appreciation of home-cooking, traditionally women's work, during this time when restaurants are closed?
For our final Broadly Speaking conversation of the year, we’ll bring together three brilliant cooks and food writers, Julia Busuttil Nishimura (A Year of Simple Family Food) Ixta Belfrage (Ottolenghi FLAVOUR) and Hawa Hassan (In Bibi's Kitchen). They’ll discuss cravings, cultures and cooking communities in 2020 with host Brodie Lancaster.
The Broadly Speaking series is proudly supported by Krystyna-Campbell Pretty AM and family.
