American singer Cher showed that she believes in life after love, specifically as an animal conservationist, after her she helped the 'world's loneliest elephant' to a happier life in the Cambodian Wildlife Sanctuary in Oddar Meanchey on Sunday.

Kaavan the lonely elephant is a 36-year-old bull elephant who had been living in below-par conditions in an Islamabad zoo. Animal rights groups and a social media uproar, thanks to help from Cher, ignited enough attention to prompt his move to the Cambodian Wildlife Sanctuary.

"It has been quite a journey. The boy (Kaavan) has spent a lifetime in a concrete cell. Certainly something that's undeserving of a species so sentient, so in need of companionship, as probably the most socially developed animal there is," stated elephant expert Darrick Thomson.

Kaavan will go from living in solitary and confined conditions to walking freely in a sanctuary that houses approximately 600 more elephants.

"I am very excited to have the boy here and looking forward to a friendship and getting to know him and seeing how he becomes an elephant again here at Cambodia Wildlife Sanctuary," exclaimed Thomson.
