Alaska’s wild wilderness, mountains and stunning scenery entices a lot of people to live there. But it’s isolation also attracts people who want to get away from it all for the wrong reasons. 5. Joshua Wade

At 10 years old it was clear, Joshua Wade from Anchorage, Alaska suffered from uncontrollable violence. At 12, he was already a petty criminal and by 19, a full-fledged felon. At 20 is when Wade turned to killing - violently raping and murdering 33-year old, Della Brown.

4. James Ritchie

On November 12, 2016, Officer Arn Salao from the Anchorage police responded to a call about an unpaid cab fare. At 4:30am, Downtown at the scene of the incident, Salao happened upon 40-year old James Dale Ritchie walking by. The officer asked him if he saw anything but Ritchie just ignored him and kept walking.

3. Michael Silka

Retired Army Veteran, Michael Silka from Hoffman Estates, Illinois packed all his firearms and decided to drive to Alaska to live in a little mountain cabin. From a young age, Silka had shown a love for the outdoors. He also kept getting in trouble with the law. Before he even graduated high school, he had been arrested for juvenile offenses including carrying an antique gun to a park. A neighbor encouraged him to join the army and he did but was discharged the same year he entered for disciplinary violations. During his basic training, however, Silka was rated as an expert marksman.

1. Robert Hansen

Born in Iowa, Robert Hansen was the son of a Danish immigrant. His dad was a baker and Hansen followed suit in the family trade. Growing up, he was shy and suffered from severe acne, causing him to be socially awkward and develop a stutter. Shunned by girls, Hansen grew up hating women. To escape, He ended up becoming a loner and often accompanied his father to go hunting.
