Satyajit Ray and Kishore Kumar and their relations | A Tribute to the legends

There was a family relation between Satyajit Ray and Kishore Kumar. Kishore Kumar first marriage Ruma Guha Thakurta that lasted eight years. Singer Amit Kumar is their son. Ruma was niece to Bijoya Roy, wife of none other than the legendary Satyajit Ray. Not many know of this link between the two doyens of the film industry.

Kishore Kumar worked with legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray. He sang for his 1964 film Charulata. Not many people know but Kishore didn't charge any fees for singing in Charulata. He was aware of the fact that Satyajit Ray didn't have much budget for the film, and though Satyajit was worried that Kishore might charge a big amount, the star refused to take any fees. Aami Cheeni Go Cheeni, which remains to be one of the most popular songs among lovers.
Later he recorded another song for Satyajit Ray in his film Ghare-Baire. Bidhir badhon bhangbe tumi....was a rabindra sangeet. There was no background music in that song.
This is our small tribute to the legend at his 100th birth anniversary.
