Making a table from the legs of an old sewing machine

Singer antique sewing machine. I had this sewing machine at home for many years. He's after my grandmother and I was sorry to fire him. So Veronica thought of using it as a table in the bedroom. And we went to restoration.

Something from the history of sewing machines:

The need for sewing mechanization arose mainly in connection with the emergence of mass armies in the early 19th century, for which thousands of uniforms had to be sewn. The first design of a sewing machine was patented by the Englishman Thomas Saint in 1790, but his design was never realized. In 1814, the Austrian inventor Josef Madersperger introduced the first working model of a machine with a chain stitch and a single thread. However, even the improved machine from 1839 was not successful. In 1830, the French tailor Barthélémy Thimmonier built a working chain stitch machine, which built a manufactory with 80 machines, which the craftsmen eventually destroyed because they feared for work.

Walter Hunt invented twisted stitch sewing with a double thread, a machine needle (with an eye close to the tip) and a shuttle in 1833. A usable machine was designed on the same principle in 1845 by the American Elias Howe, who provided the needle with a groove. Engineer Isaac Merritt Singer simplified the shuttle machine, equipped with a foot, thread tensioning and a pedal. At the same time, he introduced the leasing of machines and had great success with them, even though he lost the process with Howe and had to pay him large compensations. The Singer brand then meant the same thing as a sewing machine all over the world. Wilson and Wheeler invented the reciprocating rotary shuttle and cloth feeder. In 1856, the four largest American companies agreed on patents, and all other manufacturers had to pay royalties to them. In 1877, Joseph Merrow patented the first sewing machine (overlock), and in 1889, Singer launched an electric machine.

Until the end of the 20th century, the sewing machine was the equipment of every household and was also a piece of furniture, while the electric sewing machine can be carried in a briefcase. Home sewing machines in the Czech Republic were manufactured by Lada in Soběslav, Minerva in Boskovice and Zeta in Brno. At present, only sewing machines for professional and industrial use are produced in the Czech Republic. Shoemaking and bag sewing machines with triangular needles on the skin were unwound from classic tailor's sewing machines.

I'm sorry for my bad English, it's not my language.

I'm uploading videos about restoring mechanical things. I'm uploading videos about the restoration of old wooden things. I fix things as best I can. I am self-taught. Therefore, if some procedures are wrong, forgive me. Thank you.

If you like this renewal, share and send :)
