Who killed Derek Becker? Family speaks out for the first time in nearly 6 years

Nearly six years after Keiser University baseball player Derek Becker was found shot to death inside his West Palm Beach apartment just days before Christmas 2020, his family says they are still waiting for answers and fear justice may never come.

Becker, 21, was set to fly home to New York when his parents, James and Mindy Becker, were woken up by a knock at their door.

James Becker said the family was told they needed to call Florida.

“December 20, 2020, was the worst day of our lives,” James Becker told CBS12 News. “We got a knock at our door from our hometown police department and didn’t really realize what was going on. We received the news that we needed to call down to Florida. [I] made the phone call, talked to the detective and received the worst news that any parent could receive... That he was shot and killed in his apartment.”
