If you look back at Bengali cinema, you would see thrillers were not a huge part of its history. Now Bangla cinema is only about thrillers and horrors and detective films, but once this was the most neglected and overlooked genre. But amidst that, we had a few makers continuously trying to make films which had the thrill element and a certain eerie horror element intact. Also, the first ever thriller in Indian cinema, was a Bengali film. This video discusses it all.

I have tried to get a glimpse at the history of Bangla thrillers ranging from the 1940s to 1980. Also tried to recommend as many thrillers as possible, and five best among the entire lot. Comment if I missed any.

Also, there is a short rant about my issue with Dhurandhar, not the film in particular, but the post release online discourse regarding the film which is disturbing me. The 7th episode of Cinelochona welcomes you with open hands.
