"Stick Together"; One Woman's Odyssey from Exile to Canada

Days after Germany invaded western Poland in 1939, Russia attacked on Poland’s eastern border. Within months, the Soviets began deportations of regular Polish citizens. The actual number deported is unknown but total estimates of deported or imprisoned range from 300,000 to 1.2 million. A young girl at the time, Halina and her family were exiled to a labour camp in the depths of Siberia. Decades later, Halina recounts the story of her family’s survival, their exodus through Persia, a long stay in Tanzania, and of their ultimate immigration to Canada.
