Kul Chandra Gautam, a distinguished diplomat from Nepal and a former senior UNICEF and UN official speaks about the continuing need & relevance of multilateralism and global solidarity to tackle the biggest problems facing our world today, like the COVID pandemic, the climate crisis, war and peace, and poverty and inequality. A graduate of Dartmouth College and Princeton University, Gautam is a keen observer of America’s role in international affairs. Dispelling many myths and misinformation about the UN, Gautam outlines its real strengths and weaknesses and offers some suggestions to make it more effective. It is a wise and timely advice that merits our attention. Mr Kul Gautam is a distinguished diplomat, development professional, public policy advocate and human rights activist. He is a former Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF and Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations. He has extensive experience in international diplomacy, development cooperation and humanitarian assistance.
Currently, Mr Gautam serves in the Boards of several national and international organizations dealing with poverty reduction, peace-building, inter-faith cooperation, public health, education, and the well-being of women and children, including: Nepal Economic Forum, Nepal Public Health Foundation; RESULTS.org; Global Partnership to End Violence against Children; and Religions for Peace.
