Waxing a Hand Plane Sole

If you are doing any extended use of a hand plane, you will want to wax the sole of it to reduce friction. This will save your arms a lot of work as you use the hand plane.
Paraffin wax is available in the canning section of the supermarket, or online. You can also rub a candle or some wax paper on the plane sole.
