Emergency Landing: Skilled Pilots Safely Land Aircraft with Landing Gear Malfunction

An aircraft with the registration LV-WPM, a Beechcraft 250 King Air owned by FLIGHTEC, experienced an apparent issue with the nose landing gear, resulting in an emergency landing at Salta's Martin Miguel de Güemes International Airport (SLA).

The incident occurred on April 21st at 10:17 local time (LT), causing disruptions to airport operations as emergency services responded to the aircraft. According to Argentinean aviation news outlet Aviación Online, at least four commercial flights were affected and had to be diverted to alternate airports.

Video footage shows the skilled piloting crew managing to keep the aircraft on the runway despite the malfunctioning nose gear, which provides directional control on the ground. However, additional videos reveal that the problem extended beyond the nose gear, affecting the entire system. The aircraft was successfully brought to a stop on the runway without veering off, and emergency services sprayed foam on the aircraft to mitigate the risk of fire due to friction between the fuselage and the runway surface.

According to a statement released by the company, the pilots reported equipment failure to the control centers during the flight, prompting the decision to perform an emergency landing. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the aircraft sustained only minor damage.
