Anusha Ali’s academic career started with a thesis that focused on Spaces of Imagination, formed and found at thresholds of the real and unreal, an interest that led her to GPISH. She explored the human imaginary through folktales, and is currently learning ways to transform this foray into the imaginary into a visual language.
Qays Batada is pursuing GPISH at IIS. Currently, Qays is studying for an MSc in Development Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science. His research interests include Islam in in South Asia and Ismaili history and thought.
Laila Halani is the head of Graduate Studies at IIS. She oversees all academic aspects of both GPISH and STEP. Laila’s research interests include contemporary Islamic movements, gender and representation in Muslim societies, and Ismailis in contemporary times.
Aqil Visram moved from Toronto to attend GPISH at the IIS. Aqil's research interests include Islamic history and thought, with an emphasis on Ismaili traditions. He led a small team to organise the Graduate Conference.
