Tornado WARNING and a Sexy Shelf Cloud! Storm Chase in MN & IA

A fun day of chasing QLCS storms from Owatonna, MN to Cascade, IA . I ended up chasing with a fellow MN chaser, Holden Smith. The first severe storm of the day produced a beautiful shelf cloud and a couple nice wall clouds before becoming dis-organized as a cluster of updrafts went up. We continued South into Iowa on new development and ended up driving through a-lot of foggy rain with low visibilty! The southern cell eventually developed a meso late in the evening. We drove through a weak rain wrapped circulation and popped out to a lowering almost on the ground. Then we dropped South and the storm went tornado warned shortly after. A tornado was spotted and confirmed in Bernard, IA but we were too far SW to see it. Throughout the day we saw shelf clouds, wall clouds, suspicious lowering, rain bands, possible funnels and weak rotation under the base.

I am eager to see what the rest of the summer will bring in the Midwest!
