Lecture by Bram van Leuveren: Pageantry as Public Diplomacy in the Early Modern Netherlands
Bram van Leuveren (Marie-Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellow, Leiden University) talks about his/their EU-sponsored research on the ceremonial receptions of Anglo-French dignitaries in the Netherlands between the 1570s and the 1640s. Bram's talk was part of his/their hybrid symposium 'Pageantry, Ritual, and Popular Media: Netherlandish Practices of Public Diplomacy in 16th- and 17th-Century Europe', organised at Leiden University on 2 December 2022 and sponsored with a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship from the European Commission under grant agreement number 101029762. Bram's talk was chaired by Marika Keblusek (Leiden University).
