“Faith Journeys with God in the Land” Part 35
This episode was recorded on the grounds of the traditional “Mt. of Beatitudes,” a location established by the Catholic Church in the 1930s. We can’t be sure where Jesus taught the “Sermon on the Mount” but this could be a possible location. So could the lower slopes of Mt. Arbel, or another hill on the northwest corner of the lake. What we do know is that Jesus taught His kingdom principles. Matthew 5-7 record them happening here, while Luke 6 records Jesus sharing virtually the same kingdom message somewhere on the plains (e.g. most likely the Plain of Genesseret). The kingdom themet was Jesus' “go-to” message everywhere!
To be able to live out the kingdom principles in our walk of faith begins when we allow the "reign and rule” of God to take control in our lives. This is how a 1st century follower of Jesus would have understood this spiritual kingdom that Jesus taught. The spiritual “reign and rule” of God in our lives is what not only motivates the follower of Jesus, but also enhances our ability to live out the kingdom on a daily basis. The “already” aspect of the kingdom is realized in our lives when we yield to Jesus’ leading of our lives through His Spirit.
Read the first portion of Matthew 5 as shared by Jesus and be encouraged to live out the kingdom today!
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
