Star Finches feeding at night, Timber Creek NT

I was very surprised to realise that all the noise coming from this cane grass after sunset was from tiny Star Finches (Neochmia ruficauda). There would have been at least 30 moving through the grass, quite confidently.

Recorded at Timber Creek, Northern Territory Australia in August 2019, on 21 day Maximum Wildlife tour with Echidna Walkabout.
