How to Build a 5.3L LS LM7 V8 - Part 1: First Disassembly
Today is a really exciting as we embark on a new project! We are starting on a new engine building project and we will have some parts supplied by Summit Racing. This 5.3L V8 came out of a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado with 260,000 miles on it. It made 285 hp (213 kW) and 325 lb⋅ft (441 N⋅m) from factory and we should be able to get those numbers into the 400's by the end of the build.
I am making this video series to show you exactly how to build one of these engines for yourself. Everything I'm doing is something you can do at home in your spare time. Building one of these yourself is incredibly rewarding and something amazing you can use for years to come.
This is going to be a total rebuild with a machined bored block and rebuilt heads. It will be a heck of a journey and I hope you join me on it. If you have any questions please feel free to leave them below. Thank you so much for watching!
