Fimi X8 SE 2022 V2 Drone Flight Test Review

Fimi X8 SE 2022 vs 2020 improvements:
- Increased FPV distance: 2020 - 8KM, 2022 - 10 KM
- Higher powered motors for improved wind performance
- Pop out battery issue corrected with new battery.

Fimi X8 2022 V2 improvements:
- Two bottom IR sensors
- Two landing light LEDs
- Optional combined megaphone speaker and latch plugin module
- Remote ID ready
- includes a gimbal guard
- New SAR mode. Point at a ground object/person with zoom and it will tell the lat long of the object.

Fimi X8 2022 V2 Features:
- Folding Drone for max portability (no case).
- 765 grams. Registration required most countries.
- Rain proof (but I don't recommend testing it).
- Higher power brushless motors (Level 8 wind resistance, gusts up to 40mph/64kph)
- 11.4V 4500mah (up to 35 mins flight)
- GPS/GLONASS/BeiDou, Return to home on Command, Loss of signal, L-
- No horizontal obstacle avoidance (although belly IR sensors do provide some vertical OA).
- Optical flow / precision landing camera.
- Belly IR sensors, provides altitude hold and basic ground obstacle avoidance (can detect sloping hills and adjust altitude accordingly).
- Belly LED lights (optical flow in low light).
- New module bay (option Megaphone 100m range/drop module 200 grams max)
- MicroSD (TF card) capability (use V3 cards). Also includes micro USB port for blackbox data and drone upgrades.
- 10 Km FPV/Control range (3RD Gen Roklink).
- Remote ID capable.
- 4K (100 mbps) HDR camera with 1/2.0" 48MP CMOS sensor, and F1.6 aperture for night scene capability.
- 3 axis stabilized gimbal.
- FPV, camera options, and advanced camera flight control modes available through the "Fimi Navi 2020" app (Google Play here https://bit.ly/FimiNavi2020, and for iOS here https://apple.co/3oUsGwm ).
- Camera options: ISO, shutter speed, EV
- Camera modes: Single, HDR, super night mode, time lapse, and panorama.
- Flight modes: Waypoints, dronie, smart track, tap fly, orbit, spiral, cinematic, tripod, course lock, and fixed wing.
- Controller features include
- Internal rechargeable battery
- Real relay antennas
- OTG cable connection (no WiFi needed or used)
- Left scroll gimbal, right scroll EV/ISO
- Left button video, right button photo
- Menu toggle controller

Cons:
- Does not come with a carrying case.
- Battery life is shorter than advertised 35 minutes. I got just over 24 minutes. But I was flying on a very breezy day which will reduce maximum flight time.
- The optional megaphone is very difficult to hear unless the drone is within a few meters of the listener. The drop latch works great though.
- The Fimi Navi 2020 app is very processor intensive. Older phones may struggle using some of its features. Just a heads up from my experience, if the drone isn't performing properly with the app, then try a different/better phone.
