Meghan ranked top in a study conducted by international education provider Oxford Royale which analysed QS World University Rankings. The study looked at different key areas including academic reputation to the staff–to–student ratio for the institutions attended by key members of the Royal Family. Northwestern University, where the Duchess studied a double major in Theatre and International Relations, ranked number 30 on a list of over 1350 institutions in the QS World University Rankings. The institute ranks 61 places ahead of the second–best institution attended by a royal in the survey, the University of St Andrew’s. A spokesperson for Oxford Royale commented on the findings: “Life as a royal isn’t always an easy job and involves a lot of dealing with extensive scrutiny and life in the public spotlight, and Meghan Markle’s academic strengths have equipped her perfectly for this role. “While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have resigned from their roles as working royals, they have captured the interest and attention of the world, and Meghan’s desire to use her platform to raise awareness over serious world issues reflects her intelligence, analytical mind and educational pedigree”. The University of St Andrew’s was attended by Prince William and Kate, both 39, ranking 91 out of the over 1350 universities on the QS World list. William and Kate met at the Scottish university after enrolling on the same art history course in 2001. William later switched to study Geography, but the pair remained close. This year they celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary, and now have three children together. According to the data collected in the study, the Duchess of Cambridge claims the second spot for the UK’s second cleverest royal, as she beat her husband with higher A–Level results (AAB). The Duke takes the third spot on the list and achieved grades of ABC at A–Level. According to the data on which royal is the brightest of all, William’s cousin Eugenie claimed the fourth spot. Eugenie, 31, attended Newcastle University which ranks number 134 on the university ranking. The princess, who welcomed her child August with husband Jack Brooksbank at the beginning of this year, received a 2:1 upon graduation, with a combined honours degree for English Literature, History of Art and Politics. Eugenie’s sister Princess Beatrice, 33, also achieved strong A–Level results (ABB) and studied at Goldsmiths, University of London which put in her tenth spot on the list. Like Eugenie, Beatrice also welcomed her first child this year after giving birth to Sienna in September. Also included on the list was Peter Philips in fifth, Zara Tindall in sixth and Princess Anne in seventh. While the Princess Royal never officially attended university, she achieved an honorary degree from the University of Aberdeen. The eighth and ninth spots were clinched by Lady Kitty Spencer and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall respectively.
