Grande Ronde Wild and Scenic River: 7 Days - Minam to Heller Bar by Packraft & Canoe

We load our packrafts and canoe and put-in on the Wallowa River at Minam, in NE Oregon, and took out 7 days and 91 miles later at Heller Bar on the Snake River in SW Washington. Flow on the Grande Ronde Wild and Scenic River at the Troy gauge ranged from 4600 to 5400 cfs throughout this mid-April trip.

00:00 - Day 1 - Minam to camp in forest on Wallowa at RM 6.1. Includes Minam Roller (II) and Red Rock Rapid (II). 5400 cfs in Grande Ronde at Troy.
02:51 - Day 2 - Wallowa RM 6.1 to Grande Ronde RM 71.7. Includes Blind Falls (II), Sheep Creek Rapid (II+) 4900 cfs in Grande Ronde at Troy.
05:24 - Day 3 - Grande Ronde RM 71.7 to RM 58.5. Includes Martin's Misery (II). 4700 cfs in Grande Ronde at Troy.
08:36 - Day 4 - Grande Ronde RM 58.5 to RM35.8. Includes a flipped packraft, a flipped canoe and Double Eddy Rapids. 4600 cfs in Grande Ronde at Troy.
11:33 - Day 5 - Grande Ronde RM 35.8 to RM 23.8. 4600 cfs in Grande Ronde at Troy.
13:13 - Day 6 - Grande Ronde RM 23.8 to RM 8.8. 4700 cfs in Grande Ronde at Troy.
14:32 - Day 7 - Grande Ronde RM 8.8 to Heller Bar at confluence with Snake River. Includes The Upper Narrows (III), Lower Narrows (IV) and Bridge Rapids (II+/III). 5000 cfs in Grande Ronde at Troy.

This trip in April had greener hillsides, which brought out more wildlife than we saw last year in late-June (https://youtu.be/4olkqgVBTyM). This year's wildlife sightings included bald eagles, river otter, a band of bighorn sheep and hundreds of elk.
