Venice Introduces an Access Fee to Day Visitors

Venice is currently trialing a new access fee on certain days in 2024 which are likely to have the highest number of visitors. It is hoped that the fee will put some people off visiting the city on these busy days

☀️ The fee applies to people visiting Venice during the day. Overnight visitors are exempt due to already paying accommodation tax but still need to register for the exemption

🗓️ 2024 dates:
April 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30
May 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26
June 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30
July 6, 7, 13, 14

🕗 Fee applies between 8:30am and 4:00pm

💶 Cost: €5 paid online or upon entry to Venice outside Santa Lucia Train Station or Piazza Roma

Issued a QR code as proof or payment (or exemption) which is scanned by stewards at various points around the city

⚠️ Anyone failing to comply can incur a fee of between €50 to €300
