Range Brass: Pick It Up (and Reuse It) or Leave it Where it Lies?

Range brass...a touchy topic for some. I have absolutely no issue with picking up and reusing range brass. If the bench on either side of me is clearly someone who reloads (very easy to tell by their ammo and brass attentiveness) I don't even bother to ask, however if either bench is shooting commercial ammo and discarding the brass (and it's a caliber I'm interested in), I'll ask them if they want their brass. More often than not, they are fine with it. That's a win.

Some folks are picky about head stamps, primer size (I will not pickup small primer 45ACP) or certain calibers (I will go out of my way to avoid picking up 10mm/.40). If I sweep up 9mm or other (e.g., .22) no biggie, as I keep a bag near my bench of "returns" that I'll bring to the range next visit. Since I full length resize, bottleneck calibers aren't an issue either. But, everyone has their preferences. BTW, have you seen the price of new/never fired brass? Oh my...inflation!
