New Storms Through Old Eyes 1 - Surprise Shelf Cloud

On August 1st, 2021, I acquired my first VHS camcorder since about 2006. In an attempt to revive, or perhaps preserve, the look of classic storm chasing footage, I have set out since then with this camcorder as well as others similar to it.

On August 10th, 2021, the Storm Prediction Center forecast severe weather over a large portion of the US, with an enhanced risk in the midwest, but a marginal risk spanning all the way from Kansas to New Jersey. I had brought my VHS camera out with me to take some test footage when I decided to check the radar. Forgetting about the marginal risk issued, I was shocked to see a huge bowing segment heading due east in my direction. It ultimately weakened by the time it passed over me, but nonetheless it was wonderful to see through the lens of my old camcorder. Here's what it saw on that day. Also, apparently I really have something against Musikfest.
