Welcome to 'Live from Fotherdale', a selection of bird cams streamed from inside barn owl and kestrel nests, a buzzard feeding post and a stoat habitat. This livestream also picks up passing foxes, hares, weasels and even badgers - offering the very best of British wildlife for you to enjoy.

BARN OWLS - GHOST & WILLOW
Ghost and Willow had 4 chicks in Sycamore this year (hatched on 29/08, 02/09 + 05/09), unfortunately the youngest chick died(18/09) . She and her partner, Ghost, waited all season to take possession of this owl box, initially occupied by Mr & Mrs Kes, and so theirs is a very late brood, but three of the four chicks (Ginger, Cinnamon and Clove) have now fledged, but Clove likes to spend her days back in the nest.

BARN OWLS - FINN & GYLFIE
Their first chicks of the year, Nutmeg & Thyme, were raised in Elm Stump and have fledged. Finn is a young male and his ungainly attempts at courtship gave us plenty to smile about (watch him here https://youtu.be/UUUdFluA-gY_), but developed into a great provider. (See his story here: https://youtu.be/duA2hIYh8WA). Unfortunately the whole of the second clutch have passed away which is incredibly sad, but I have my fingers firmly crossed for next year.

BARN OWLS AT NIGHT
My bird cams Kestrel Feeding Post, Buzzard Log and Maze Wall are also great locations to see lots of barn owl action in the evenings.

BUZZARDS
Spot buzzards on Buzzard Log and Buzzard Post bird cams. Please note if you are watching in the US, the bird known as a common buzzard in the UK (Buteo Buteo) is similar to your red tailed hawk although it does not have a red tail.

KESTRELS - MR & MRS KES
Look out for our two resident kestrels, Mr & Mrs Kes, and their six chicks on the bird cams. Although these chicks have now fledged you can occasionally spot the juveniles on the feeding posts. This resilient kestrel family survived brutal raids on their nest this year, revealing just how hard it is for falcon families to survive in the wild. TAWNY OWLS - BOMBER & LUNA
Occasionally the bird cams also pick up night views of tawny owls Bomber & Luna. Bomber, a male tawny owl, has lived at Fotherdale since ~2013 and Luna the female since ~2020. It is very difficult to tell tawny owl sexes apart, but this ID video gives you a few pointers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJ0V9uVBO7w. Tragically this pair lost their clutch this year. STOATS
Hazel and her four kits often play on the maze wall - but you need sharp eyes to spot them as these animals are very fast. Find out more about their story here: https://youtu.be/cLlgzy6RB40

WEASEL

BACKSTORY
