Continuing my series of the Soviet Union in photographs from the 1970;s I turn my attention to the ancient city of Vologda.
the Ministry of Culture for the Russian Federation has classified Volgda as a "Historical City".
Situated on the Volodga River, the city was, until the 17th century an important centre of industry, commerce and the arts, with Volgda Lace being highly sort after. The city boasts a fine Kremlin, a powerful five-domed Cathedral and ancient streets.....
