The lesson begins with the chord shapes needed to play the verse. It's just D, and G and the finger-picking pattern. This is something you could (almost) do your very first day of guitar. We spend some time working through the chord shapes, working through the pattern, counting to make sure your rhythm is solid, and then we play it together, nice and slow.

Before moving on, and learning the rest of the tune, I want to take a minute to iron out a couple details. One has to do with switching chords a little early in order to get an open string. The other is a small bassline thing to help us transition into the chorus.

Once we've taken care of those details, we move on to learn the chorus, which is kind of like the verse, you know just two chords and a pattern, but the chords are different (just as easy: E minor and A). There's also a little baseline thing that we can add to increase the challenge level but, all in all, it's pretty straightforward.

Finally, we take a look at the bridge, which has more stuff than the rest of this all combined, including a couple of barre chords: F sharp and B minor. We practice the entire bridge, working through all of it, and then we play through all the sections together, so you can practice the transitions, and get a feel for the real thing.

Enjoy! I'm gonna be cranking out a ton more fingerpickers so stay tuned!
