Travis Picking Made Ridiculously Simple: A Tutorial
This video lesson hopefully will enable you to begin your quest to expand your musical repertoire by learning how to fingerpick. Travis picking will fill that bill. Before being able to add a melody line while Travis picking, one must learn how to do a basic "pattern" first. Learning a "pattern" first and having muscle memory take over so you can essentially repeat that pattern over and over, almost unconsciously, is the foundation to lay down before attempting advanced techniques later.
A subscriber requested a video lesson dedicated to showing the right hand technique that I use for Conor Oberst's song, "First Day of My life." Give it a week or two to memorize and learn the pattern, and then another week to master it with increased speed and accuracy. A metronome could prove beneficial.
