Cornell American Kestrel Cam ~Now there Are Four ~ 2 More Hatches & First Feeding 5.22.19

This morning when Mom Kestrel wakes up we see two more hatches since last night! We now have four babies and one white egg (which has just pipped!!). Mom leaves the nest box and the male enters and resumes brooding.
Mom will return with prey and the male leaves - and she will begin a feeding for the first time to her babies. Congratulations Mom and Dad Kestrel on your new extended family! Thank you for watching!

The nest box is located on the side of a traditional limestone-footed barn, overlooking a rolling grassland that slopes away into folded hills and forests. Cornell Lab & Raptor Resource Project have teamed up to provide this new live cam.The kestrel is North America’s littlest falcon & packs a predator’s fierce intensity into its small body. It's number one of the most colorful raptors - the male’s slate-blue head and wings contrast elegantly w/rusty-red back & tail. The female has the same warm reddish on her wings, back, & tail.
