Clint Eastwood may be considered a legend in Hollywood, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of celebrities that he doesn’t get along with. There have been numerous public feuds between Clint and other directors, and Clint has also rubbed many of the actors that he has directed the wrong way while on set.

Some of the directors that Clint has become embroiled in public feuds with include Spike Lee and documentarian Michael Moore. Spike took issue with Clint’s casting choices in the World War II features Letters from Iwo Jima and Flags of Our Fathers. In return, Clint told Spike that he needed to “shut his face”. Michael Moore, on the other hand, disrespected Clint’s box-office hit American Sniper. This caused Clint to stand up in front of an entire event audience and declare that he was going to shoot him.

Clint has never been one for mincing his words when it comes to politics, having even acted as a mayor of an entire town in California. Clint’s political opinions veer pretty far on the conservative side, something that doesn’t always jive well with his peers in the liberal entertainment industry. One such person that has taken issue with some of Clint’s conservative remarks is Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea.

Not all of the people who hate Clint hate him for reasons relating to his work. Some people that hate Clint hate him for personal reasons, such as his former romantic partner Sondra Locke. Sondra and Clint were romantically involved for over a decade throughout the 70s and 80s, and also starred together in numerous films. However, their relationship ended bitterly and resulted in a few lawsuits.

Finally, one person that has picked a fight with Clint over the course of the actor and director’s long career is a man that also happens to be one of the icon’s personal heroes. This is John Wayne, the famous Western star that preceded Clint in the industry. John wrote Clint an angry letter after viewing the latter’s first self-directed Western film, 1975’s High Plains Drifter.
